The Waterboys

One of the Westcountry’s best loved festivals, Chagstock, has announced alt-rock legends The Waterboys as Saturday night’s headliners.

Formed 30 years ago, the band have gained themselves a reputation for powerful live performances and genre-defying records known to merge country, traditional, blues and gospel to electrifying effect.

Joining them on stage will be previous band member, Richard Naiff, who played keyboard between 1999-2008, making Chagstock’s appearance a guaranteed special night for the band.

Chagstock Festival, coined by Bob Geldof as: “the most fun you can have with 5,000 people in a field in Devon in the entire world”, is taking place between 18-19 July and whilst Friday night and Saturday night’s second headliners are still to be announced, plenty of other artists have been revealed so far.

Included in the latest line up are: supporting artists The Selector, award winning Canadian band The Stanfields, English blues-rockers Sam Green and The Midnight Heist; Sheelanagig, local Okehampton rockers Downfall and New Crisis who will be performing their traditional main stage slot.

The fancy dress theme for this year has also been revealed as ‘The Wild West’.

Chagstock is well known and loved for its stunning location – set in 70 acres of farmland on the edge of Dartmoor – as well as its eclectic offering of the best entertainment, food and music.

Festival organiser, Simon Ford says: “With acts such as The Waterboys and The Selector already confirmed and many more to come, the whole team is really excited for 2014. We are all working hard to make this year’s event the best yet!”

Chagstock festival has had a previous sell-out couple of years – with last year’s festival playing host to acts such as The Boomtown Rats and Mystery Jets – and this year’s early bird tickets sold out in record time.

With the festival capped at 5,000 tickets to maintain the intimate and family-friendly atmosphere make sure you get your tickets early, currently on sale for £75 for adults. Buy yours here.
