Camp Bestival has announced its first wave of Circus acts for 2014 including two headliners.

Friday nights headliners have been confirmed as indie giants James who will be performing their sing-along classics to get the weekend off to an energetic start. James’ Saul Davies has described their headline slot as: “one of the highlights of the summer for us.”

The child friendly festival has also revealed Sunday night’s Castle Stage headliners as dynamic dance duo Basement Jaxx.

With regard to the two headliners, festival organiser Rob da Bank says: “I always pay close attention to the Camp Besti forum and social media to see what people want, so I’ve followed orders and booked two of your most requested acts […] Two huge internationally renowned acts with huge back catalogues who are going to slay the crowd at Camp Bestival[…]”.

A huge array of well-known live artists have also been confirmed including Sinead O’Connor, Charlotte Church, soul sensation Laura Mvula, Peter Hook and the Light, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Nick Mulvey to name a few.

As well as many greats lined up for live performances, a heady selection of DJs have also been announced including the majestic Boy George with Marc Vedo; Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs; lord of reggae David Rodigan MBE presenting Ram Jam as well as festival curator Rob da Bank and more.

Camp Bestival is a counterpart to the great Bestival but with much more child-orientated entertainment and this year sees the return of the popular Horrible Histories performing their new show Barmy Britain: Part Two. Also lined up for kids entertainment again this year is the legendary CBeebies personality, Mr Tumble.

The festival will also host a special celebration of this year’s 50th anniversary of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Saturday. The Birthday takeover will feature exclusive treats, a craftathon, a pop-up exhibition and live storytelling sessions in which Jo Whiley, Howard Marks and Rob da Bank will read the entire book over three evenings.

This year’s Circus theme sees the arrival of a brand new venue: The Greatest Tent on Earth where you can catch some incredible circus acts and theatre performances including Rob da Bank proving there is nothing he can’t do as he takes to the stage with his festival exclusive performance: Gandini Juggling Remixed.

Camp Bestival takes place between 31 July – 3 August at Dorset’s Lulworth Castle. Tickets are now available and you can view the current line up of live acts, DJ’s and family fun here.
