About Bestival
Bestival is one of the later events in the summer calendar, taking place in September at the Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight. Originally started by Rob Da Bank out of his Sunday Best events in 2004 it has grown from a 10,000 capacity party to support some 50,000 plus attendees in recent years. This is one of the largest, unsponsored boutique style events in the UK, picking up too many awards over the years to mention.
The Bestival site is something to behold – there’s tons going on at any given moment and huge spaces in between the tents, big tops and stages allowing you to chill out and mix with the crowds in between taking on the bands. Musically the line ups tend to mix a blend of cult classics with the big stars of today – expect a bit of anything and everything with a slight stance towards Dance music over Alternative or Rock.
The vibe at Bestival is nothing short of incredible. There’s a real feeling of involvement and togetherness from the moment you step on the site, despite the massive size of the crowd. The festival encourages everyone to dress up round a special theme on the Saturday – a practice that has won Bestival a Guinness world record for the most number of people in fancy dress on a single day. This is one event where you can’t help but get involved.
