Bestival has officially announced its first festival abroad. From June 12th-13th 2015 Bestival will be taking its own brand of boutique islander wares over to Toronto, Canada.

The festival, curated by Rob da Bank, has been going for 12 years and pulls in around 50,000 each year, so it’s not too surprising that they’ve decided to expand overseas. Some of their previous acts include Stevie Wonder, Florence & The Machine, The Cure, Kraftwerk and some big electronic DJs.

This new Canadian spawn is promising to be in keeping with everything Bestival is already known for. The project will be lead by Josie da Bank’s creative team and will be staged in conjunction with the Canadian promoters Embrace and SFX Entertainment.

Bestival curator Rob da Bank says: “We have waited 12 years to decide to launch another Bestival outside of the UK and our beloved Bestival, on the Isle of Wight, which has grown into one of the most important festivals in the global calendar. It took a really special city, and an even more exciting site, with Toronto and Toronto Island, to make us take the leap. So, the waiting is over and we are so excited to be launching in North America in June, with a classic Bestival line-up waiting to thrill, intrigue and party! I’d like to thank all our partners, friends, new and old, and supporters in Toronto, for making this happen. We cannot wait!”

The new Bestival will be following the lead of the current festival and will be taking place on Hanlan’s Point Beach, in the Toronto Islands, on the shore of Lake Ontario – a similar setup to ferry travel to The Isle of White.

There hasn’t been any line up announcements for the festival on 12th-13th June 2015 yet, but you can keep up to date with information as it is released over at www.bestival.ca.
