Live At Leeds

Live At Leeds has announced a brand new stage at Leeds town hall.

The town hall’s beautiful structure and stunning interior has seen it become a cultural hub of music, film and education for many years and now it’s set to host some of Leeds finest home-grown acts this May.

Descending on the town hall for a UK exclusive performance are ¡Forward Russia! The band will be reforming to headline Saturday night’s stage.

Following their one-off performance for Leeds Brudenell Social Club’s 100th birthday last year the band had no intention of doing anything else, however Whiskas says: “We never played Live At Leeds the first time around, but the opportunity to headline such a great venue with great friends was too good to turn down.”

Playing alongside them are fellow locals I Like Trains. The alternative post-rock quartet recently celebrated an anniversary of their own and after ten years together they’re very excited to play the Leeds venue for the first time. The band is also looking forward to sharing a stage once more with ¡Forward Russia!, having also at the centenary event last year lead vocalist Dave Martin says: “Our 10 year history is inextricably linked with Forward Russia.”

The band will also be performing and re-releasing their 2006 debut EP Progress Reform.

Lanterns On The Lake are also set to bring their cinematic indie sound to Leeds town hall as well as indie folk artist Sam Airey and his band. The set will feature music from his acclaimed ‘A Marker & A Map’ EP.

Airey says: “Truth be told, I’m excited! […] FR and ILT were the first bands I was really aware of when I moved to Leeds a few years ago, and I look up to them not just musically but in terms of their ambitions, and also their attitudes towards making music and creating a sense of community amongst their fanbases.”

Live at Leeds takes place between 2-5 May across various venues throughout the city. The current line up features big names such as Ella Eyre, Clean Bandit and Kodaline as well as an eclectic offering of some of the best new talent on the scene. View the full line up and buy tickets here.
