Bearded Theory Festival is offering a unique opportunity for unsigned bands to appear at the 2014 festival.

The Bearded Breakthrough competition has launched today through the festival’s Facebook page which can be viewed here: www.facebook.com/beardedtheoryfestival. There will be two winners, one to play its Main Stage and one for the Tornado Town second stage, both of which will be chosen by the festival fans.

The competition represents the festival’s commitment to the best new music and is open to acts in all genres who have not appeared at Bearded Theory before.

John Atkin, Bearded Theory spokesman, says: “Throughout the history of Bearded Theory we’ve taken pride in mixing great name acts with the best in new and up-and-coming acts, and in letting our festival goers have their say in who appears. For 2014, we’re offering unsigned acts the prospect of exposure before a great audience, with slots on our two biggest stages.”

He further went on to say: “Already for 2014, we are working closely with local venues to support live music year-round, and the Bearded Breakthrough competition is an extension of that commitment.”

Other new additions to 2014’s festival include a brand new location of Catton Hall in South Derbyshire, home to Bloodstock Open Air and the Big Session festivals. The Festival takes place between the 22-25 May and is returning with better-than-ever facilities for campers.

Joy Division/New Order main man Peter Hook and his band The Light, Oysterband, The Blockheads and Fishbone are among acts already confirmed for Bearded Theory 2014, with headliners still to be announced.

Bearded Theory weekend tickets are now on sale. Adult tickets are priced at £87 + booking fee. More information on the line-up, payment plans and the new location can be found here.
