Reading and Leeds 2014’s festival plans are well under way as headline acts are being booked.

The festival organiser, Melvin Benn has revealed to NME that two out of three headliners have been booked now, with hopes to secure the third by the end of the month. Benn commented that they are currently “[…] giving due consideration” to the final headliner.

When asked for any clues as to who the two acts booked might be, Benn told that “Both of the headliners have played before.” He also revealed that they were both American and English bands but went on to say that; “They may even be bands with members from both sides of the pond in them.”

This year’s festival was headlined by Biffy Clyro, Eminem and Green Day and Benn has revealed that the two acts currently booked for 2014 are bands. So, could this point to the possibility that the final slot will be filled by a solo artist, as was the pattern this year? Either way, Benn has said he is “[…] very happy” with the two bands booked.

The Reading and Leeds festival is set to take place over the August bank holiday weekend, from 22-24 August. This year’s festival saw some changes implemented in the form of two new stages; the 1Xtra Stage and the Radio 1 Dance Stage. Benn commented that he was pleased with this year’s new additions; despite meeting original scepticism, they turned out to be a great success, and with the headline acts soon to be completed, Benn is feeling confident for next year.
