About Wychwood
The Wychwood festival is an idyllic, care-free event. It takes place on the May-June cusp beneath the rolling green Prestbury Hills in the grounds of the Cheltenham racecourse, taking its name from the ancient forest that once covered large parts of Oxfordshire – even though it is actually located in Gloucestershire. With a heritage that can be traced back to 2005, this is a leftfield event that prides itself on its creative programming.
Musically the Wychwood Festival has always liked to play host to some classic acts from the UK’s Rock and Indie scenes, veering much more towards the lighter, more artsy side of the sound. It takes place over three days, with plenty of DJs and acts to keep you entertained, and you’ll find plenty of new friends amongst the 7,500 party heads – keeping this party on the intimate boutique side of the festival street.
You’ve got a truly picturesque location for the Wychwood festival and there’s everything from poetry through to craft workshops to keep hands and minds busy. The vibe is very much like a condensed Glastonbury with a homely atmosphere that will make you feel like you’ve had a relaxing break from the world of 9 to 5. A party that deserves its place in the sun.
