Primavera Sound is one of the biggest festivals to take place on the European mainland. This event sees some 100,000 party heads come together for a long weekend in late May or early June at a site outside Barcelona, by the coast of the Balearic Sea. The main location for the music is the impressive Parc del Fòrum, which sits right by the waterside and is one of seven stages that make up the central site.

The event is known for putting on an eclectic line up that swerves the mainstream big names in favour of independent music. There is a definite focus at Primavera Sound on domestic Spanish acts alongside some more leftfield staples of the festival scene. Expect everything from Alternative and Indie through to Experimental Electronica and New Wave Hip Hop. The sound policy is one that is avant garde and good for those looking to have their ears fed with new noise as opposed to simply ticking names off a list.

Even though Primavera sound is located outside of the Barcelona city centre, you will still need to find accommodation in the form of a hotel. One stop shoppers can purchase suitable lodgings alongside their ticket. The vibe of this event tends to be one that is educated, involved and certainly not too cool to have a load of fun.
