UB40 to headline Bearded Theory

If you haven’t heard the news already, firstly let us announce that UB40 are reforming. The second piece of exciting news is that they’re booked to headline Sunday night at this year’s Bearded Theory festival.

Following a hugely successful 30 years together – in which they sold more than 120 million albums and recorded 50 hit singles, Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey are bringing reggae back to the festival of all things bearded.

UB40 are the second headline act to be announced, with Carter USM lined up to headline Friday night in what will be an exclusive festival performance. Bearded Theory has announced that later on this month they will be revealing another Main Stage act.

Following a hugely successful 2013 – which was their sixth consecutive sell-out year as well as the year they won Best Small Festival at the UK Festival Awards – this year’s festival comes with some changes and exciting new additions. Firstly is the brand new location for the festival at Catton Park in South Derbyshire; still set in the idyllic countryside, the festival has also added a new stage based in the woods this year. The ticket price also includes an extra day this year, with the festival taking place over Spring Bank holiday (23-25 May).

The festival has a huge selection of great entertainment to offer everyone. Children are welcome at Bearded Theory and the festival has a lot of fun activities planned to keep them busy with themed parties, craft workshops, games and the chance to be a crew member for the day.

With the UB40 reunion, Peter Hook & the Light’s collision of New Order and Joy Division classics and the unsigned band competition, this year’s festival is set to be an opportunity not to be missed. Some of the other acts appearing across the weekend include Oysterband; DreadzoneFishboneThe Orb Sound SystemHayseed Dixie and Billy Nasty.

Tickets are currently available for the price of £87.00 for adults and between £25-45 for children. Ever the family-friendly festival, family ticket packages are available as well. See the full line up and buy your tickets here.
