Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash & John Leventhal, The Shires and Jace Everett have all been added to the line-up of the Tenth SummerTyne Americana Festival. These guys and girls will be joining and already star-studded line up that promises to bring together some of the best Southern Soul, Blue, Gospel and Country and Western the UK festival circuit has to offer.
Also new for 2015 is the arrival of the SummerTyne Late Lounge, presented in association with the Americana Music Association UK. This after dark destination features the likes of Ags Connolly, who will be rocking the joint with his old style Country sound. Also on the listings for this venue are Red Sky July and Rob Heron & His Brilliant Tea Pad Orchestra who will be whipping up a frenzy of old style knee-slapping rhythms and melodies all for your delight.
Alongside the old names in the industry there are two of the US’s hottest new acts including British born Callaghan, who is going down a treat in Nashville and Jess Clemmons from Jess & The Bandits who has been setting the scene on fire with her huge Texan voice and personality. These guys will be joining Norrie McCulloch, Chloe Chadwick, Ward Thomas, The Bevvy Sisters and Zervas & Pepper on the free indoor concourse stage.
Still want more? You can lay down your heavy load with the strong river of God fearin’ Gospel and Soul with Naomi Shelton and the Gospel Queens, Cedric Burnside Project, Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham, The McCrary Sisters, Gruff Rhys and the Pierce Brothers on the stages at the Sage Gateshead.
If this sound like your kind of thing then make sure you get your tickets as soon as possible as they are already selling out fast for this one of a kind event. The event runs from 17th-19th of July across a number of venues. Tickets are available here.
